A mate of mine changed a tube in about that time once. It went down again 30 seconds later. So did the second one he put in. I prefer to take a bit longer and remove the bit of glass/thorn/whatever that caused the original puncture!

Yep, me too, I do it exactly the same way but the cat gets booted across the room, my hands are bleeding and it takes an afternoon.

I bank on a road side puncture delaying me by about 10 minutes. I dont rush but like to make sure the tube and tyre are seated properly to stop pinch flats.

Conveniently, the old tube didn't have a valve nut on it, and he didn't fit a nut to the new one (they looked like Presta to me).
