Tense game as expected against Wales , thoroughly enjoyed it though ..
Wales fluid attacking second half was a joy to watch , big hits and knock ons prevented them from scoring ..
George North would make All Blacks so I was shocked he wasn't introduced sooner , know he's been injured but to beat England his ball carrying and speed was needed ..
Vunipolo is an absolute beast of a man ..

North would not get into the ABs squad, let alone first XV

What the TMO said was that "the first grounding was by England", not the first touch, the first grounding. There is no doubt that Anscombe touched it first but there was some doubt that he had any control over the ball.
And that is the issue . The words versus the action . Look at the grounding . In really slow motion ...

The red grounds it in control . Even Clive “ I hate the welsh “ Woodward agrees

And operating on boundaries is different from blatantly flouting time and time again . High tackles is a no no . Has been for a long time .

I agree.

High tackles are becoming harder and harder to judge IMO. I was taught that pretty much anything above the waist was off limits, but the way the game has evolved it seems anything below head height is fair game.

Be interested to hear @GrumpyGregry's take on it.

I noticed yesterday one tackle that started at waist height became a high tackle as the guy tried to slip out of it and went to ground, I'm sure some of these tackles aren't intentional and must be difficult for the ref to judge.

Above the waste tackling is a thing because defenders want to stop the offload pass.
Anything above the chest runs the risk of rolling up to the neck.
I didn’t see many tackles that concerned me yesterday.
And grumpy Greg is taking a sabbatical at the moment.

Greg will probably correct me, but high tackles used to be at point of impact, so sliding up higher after hitting on the chest used to be legal IIRC.

I agree it's difficult to tell with those. It's quite common for backs especially to be tackled in a way that the arm slides up high when they make breaks. It happened to backs on both sides during yesterday's game (one on Owen Farrell in the first half stuck in my memory).

And turn a tackle into a maul, rather than a ruck. The Irish are great at that: holding players up and getting a maul which pretty much always means a turnover as the tackled player isn't able to get the ball away. I thought the ref yesterday might have called maul 2 or 3 times.

Wasn't concerned myself either, just interested/commenting on the way tackling has changed over the years. The game is nearly unrecognisable from what it was before it became professional IMO.
