Don't think you can beat it for the cash...... top spec and simply cracking frame - I may be slightly biased though

Not here offten enough to argue
As vickster as already stated - the absolutely stunning specialized tarmac, the mountain goat of the bike world.

Light, stiff, compliant and a beast when going up, but also a sure footed descender too.......this bike has it all

Buy the tarmac sport for 1600 and have change for spending on your next trip.

Close thread

Canyon, Canyon, Canyon.

And possibly a CANYON.

For out & out Bang for Bucks this brand just can't be beaten.
Very highly regarded too.

Super lightweight frames & top drawer groupsets & finishing kit.

Only downer is direct sales so you are unlikely to get to try one.
I did read however that this year Canyon are doing some demo days in the U.K so if they are & you can get along I suggest it might be worthwhile.

If this is not your bag then maybe the Cube Agree GTC SL as owned by @DooDah & for very much the same reasons as the Canyon (lots of U.K Dealers).

Specialized Roubaix rather than Tarmac for big miles will be great but don't expect a top groupset or high end finishing kit & definitely not a big discount as they are very controlling of their Dealers.

Giant Defy Advanced.

Lots around, excellent build quality & frame, light, quick & good discounts on 2013 stock (2015 bikes start arriving in 2> 3 months).

I actually have a 2013 SLT, but a 2014 SL can be had for 1899 I think and the SLT for 2099. Prefer the colours of the 2014 SL to the SLT though.

But you will get the best frame money can buy - its as simple as that. Components can be ugraded when needed, but the frame is the heartbeat of the bike. The SL4 just cant be beaten

Not wanting to disuade you from n+1 but whats wrong with the Surly, its got quite low gears for climbing (namely a large 32t cassette)? The steel frame might be a bit heavy but I can't picture a new bike being that much better with the same engine. That said n+1 is always good
