I noticed the Crown wasn't quite right, but, you say they do have '284s? I haven't seen that!
If they do what you say "number the half pint as '284' (Caerphilly)?" you'd get your "Welsh" one.

They'd probably just ignore me seeing as they are probably already made. Probably..... Unless they do customs.

I also read the reviews, and several people have pointed out the same thing, it is a half pint, not a pint.

"Perfection !!
These glasses are great. I've had mine for approximately 5 years, and they must have gotten washed in the dishwasher 75 times. They are still like new."

Washed 75 times in five years.

I could start my own small business here - Custom and novelty glasses!! Cyclechat glasses anyone??

Now, how do I start....?

It is like the other day there, I was reading an old book about a woman who has two autistic sons and she was saying that one only ever wore pink, and often exactly the same thing, and that getting pink things for boys was (at the time) difficult, let alone finding something identical to the thing before.

'Now there is a niche market!'

thought I, making custom clothing for Autists and others!!

..... It then occurred to me that I would probably just end up be running something akin to a t-shirt printers!:blush:

Paging @classic33, This was delivered in the post yesterday (although I have only now opened the parcel), and, this is the glass I was referring too with the 'A' prefix under the 545 (York) number.

It is also full of air bubbles, mostly small, but with a few large ones:

Seeing as it is from the preriod of George VI (1936 - 52), I am wondering if it is a wartime one, hence the inferior quality.

Anyway, what does the 'A' stand for?

Oh and the George V Stoneware '524' (Camden) half pint mug I bought for a tenner.

It has a large crack in it, but I don't think it has ever come apart (unless it has been restored well) it is just a major hairline crack.

Probably why it was only a tenner, but hey, it is a minimum of 80/81 years old (1910 - 35) and it must have had an interesting life, just like the glass above (next to it in these pics):

Mark doesn't look right. It could be S45, neither five matches the other.

Even during wartime, the crown would be right, as would the mark. Anything else of the same time period with similar markings. Excluding number and letter?

Best I've got to date is a mould makers mark. Batch was tested but made at seperate factories

Same style, it is just the first '5' has a slight bit more to it.
Could it be 'S'.... Why? What would that be? 'Service'?

As for the wartime bit, I read that glass made during this time was often inferior due to resources being needed elsewhere. This thing is just riddled with bubbles.

As far as I know, a 'C' on a 301 glass means it was made in Castelford, so I assume that 'A' must be the code for where this was made too.

I tried to find it previously and never found anything.

I have, admittedly still to look at the websites you provided properly, but I wanted to wait and had the glass to hand.
