So after being advised by people on here, I decided to put my bike in the back of the car and set off somewhere different.

I plotted a route at home and stuck it in my Garmin. I then set up my TomTom to take me to where I felt safe to park the car all day.
The place I decided to go was Holyhead. I had seen a route online which looked interesting, so planned a ride roughly following it.

When I arrived there, the sun was shining but there was a strong wind. I got changed (in a secluded part of the car park) and got my bike out. I then set off. The route was hilly, but not massive hills. Just a lot of ups and downs. I spoke to a sheep, cow, and horse. I saw a few jets and helicopters when I passed the RAF base. And I had a discussion with another cyclist when I was almost back at my car about potholes, and I gave him advice about reporting them online and speaking to the council.
I had some lunch on the way home, and made myself happy by being very patient driving behind two different cyclists.

I had never cycled on Anglesey before and it was nice to have a change of scenery. The cliffs were spectacular, and whenever I crested a hill, I was met with glorious views.

I would love to live there, or nearer because there are some spectacular training hills. The route I chose ended up being 30 miles. In the summer, I might do a longer one, or even cycle around the whole island.

I recommend everyone has a change of scenery when they can, it is a real incentive to get you back out on your bike.
I am also making a video of the ride.

That looked like a nice day out Matthew_T. , good that you managed to get away on a fine day to explore in February.
The flashing traffic lights were unusual, was that a fault condition or a feature of your cam?
I'd have been down for a closer look at that "spooky" house if I'd been there^_^

Nice video, and so few cars! I thought Lancashire was quiet. You need a riding buddy Matt, it's no use talking to sheep - they know very little about cycling.

It happens with LED lights. I think the camera interfers with it or something. There is no fault though, the majority of cameras do that. In some of my videos, you can see car brake lights doing the same.

Matt, really, you do need to find a riding buddy. Finding one was the best thing that ever happened to me as a cyclist; luckily we are the same age and fitness (well, he's a bit faster most of the time) and we both enjoy the same kind of rides and coffee shops. We also have similar work and family commitments so there's no bad feeling if one of us can't make a ride or is under time constraints. There's something sad about a young cyclist going out alone and mooching around feeling lonely and having a buddy to egg you on means you'll get out more and enjoy your rides more, not to mention that you can look out for each other in the event of an accident or breakdown.

Is there a club around your area that you can join?
