Yes bits can get stuck in hollow teeth if your not careful and then you spend the next 5 miles trying to work them out with your tongue because you don't want to stop and take your gloves off. There is that.
Ill still be on Soreen on Saturday though.

Hi again.

After spending the morning polishing the car to an inch of its miserable life a bike ride was in order for this afternoon. As usual the planned ride turned into something different and ended up doing just under 50 miles.
Everything was all well and fine and then at around 35 miles I started getting really hungry and I couldn't stop thinking about chocolate hob nobs. In fact i was almost craving for them, and then I saw a shop. I was straight in like a bull in a China shop and 2 minutes later I was sitting in the wall out side gorging on these biscuits..They tasted so good after waiting patiently for a shop to come my way. I was stupid not to of taken any energy bars with me today and just had a water bottle full of juice.
Does anybody here experience food cravings whilst out on the bike for sweet surgery foods. If I don't whilst riding i most certainly do when I get home.
All the best
Johnny ..

Are you diabetic? You might be and not realise it. Get yourself tested by your GP. You could also have merely been dehydrated.

I've written in Personal the reasons why I haven't got out much this year, suffice 'in public' to say I had a health scare but will be fine, in time.
My total mileage for 2017 stands at <50 miles! A shockingly low number for me in a normal week, nevermind more that 4 months.
I fully expect, once I'm given the all clear to ride normally, to experience severe cravings from sweet food after my first 4 or 5 rides. This, for me, has been normal in the past when I've been laid off the bike by bad weather for a month or so. It goes away after the first few rides and essentially I eat normally on ride and none ride days thereafter.
In those early ride days I tend to indulge the craving as it's my body telling me it's low on immediate fuel, but while I might well have a small piece of cake after a ride, but I also make sure I eat something which has a slower release of energy too. Limiting how much I eat isn't easy after the initial sweet cake, I could eat the whole damn thing if I was weak, but the slower release food helps fill me.

I take a Soreen malt loaf on long rides and just keep taking the odd bite out it.
It's loads cheaper than energy bars ad I've never bonked since started using them.
The taste probably isn't for everyone but i love them.
Does it have to be sliced with butter on? :hungry:

Thanks. I think the treacle tart clinched it ;-)) A bit far for you though http://www.thepuddingroomderbyshire.co.uk/

A really friendly little place, and an oasis compared to the hordes at the Carsington water visitor centre.

I rode past this place on Tuesday when I was cold and lost (in the middle of 55 miles of moaning about frozen toes)! If only I'd read this thread first I would have stopped for a recovery cuppa and cake!

Next time I head out that way I'll definitely stop there!
