A Invite To Buy A New Bike

SWMBO & I had a drive out to Saltaire today, ostensibly to visit & wander round Salts Mill
http://www.saltsmill.org.uk/

Plus, it's our nearest UNESCO World Heritage Site!!; http://www.saltairevillage.info/

During the wander round, I'd forgotten about this shop, but we went in; http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/

Afterwards, whilst walking around the village, she asked me why didn't I buy a new bike?. as she & daughter were going on two holidays this year, & I'm stopping at home

As we continued onwards, with our journey (Baildon Moor, Riddlesden, Keighley, Haworth, Denholme. & the tea-stop at the 'Causeway Foot Inn', I still questioned it

Thoughts please! -
with one model in mind (unless, she purely meant it, only whilst in Salts Mill??), does anyone have/know anyone with a Ribble CR3???
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/build/specification/view/specification_id/16/#groupset

It'd replace my all-rounder/winter/work bike; one of their blue aluminium 'audax' bikes
I also have a Gran Fondo, that she bought me, for my 50th birthday, back in late 2015

Make sure you visit the barge which is an ice-cream parlour on the canal and watch some cricket in the park. The gallery and brewery are worth a visit too!

If you get chance there is also a heritage railway about 20mins away.

Not sure if it was the Barge on the river instead, as there was one there
I've been to Saltaire before, but never in the Mill

On our (circuitous) route back, we went through Keighley, down to Oakworth, & passed through Haworth, so I know which line you mean:okay:
Not travelled on it, for about 20 years though

Balloon bursting time - you do not deserve a new bike. Offer cancelled.

Because, I've had two in less than 3 years?

What about http://www.ellisbriggscycles.co.uk/? Go to their window display, and you'd not have been going off walking round boring old hills, I tell you. You'd have had a much more satisfactory day ... just drooling. Bike porn? Hardcore!
I went past the old showroom a while ago. whilst 'lantern-rouging' a marathon, along the Canal towpath, & was surprised to see it shut
Searching for a reason, I did find the new shop online

No. I fancy the CR3, to keep within the Ribble stable. & for the wet-weather braking consistency for commuting (& less hassle, due to a possible bent rim, when 'pot-holing')

Any person shouldnt need permission to spend their own money unless the household is on a very tight budget.Just get what you what, its your money.
Like most married men, any purchase over a certain amount (figures can change at random!) have to be certified by 'management'/'SWMBO'

It's a trap!
Because they want two holidays???
Already sorted, pre Saltaire visit

My thoughts are, buy whatever the hell you like, but please fix the thread title.
Maybe it should have been 'Invitation', but I can't change it now

We might be going back to Salts Mill next Saturday, with daughter, as she wants to look at the music shop that's there; http://www.earlymusicshop.com/home.aspx

So, I'll see if the bike question arises again

Forgot to mention on Jane Street/Daisy Lane there is an independent bookshop which is like a house. It is well worth a visit.

Thanks jay

Any further news/photographs (with mudguards)

I've had a good luck at the bike-builders
It seems that on a Tiagra build, I can't get my required chain-rings, as it's not a Tiagra chainset, but a 'cross specific variant (CX50) that has 46/36

However, if I upgrade to Ultegra, I can have the full choice of rings
It does only offer CX tyres though

Somewhat odd, when they see it as a commuter/'weekend warrier'

Comparing it to the (cheaper) CGR, if I buy that I can have the Tiagra 50/34 & choose from a large variety of tyres
