@Drago says get a chromebook, @SpokeyDokey says get a windows 11 laptop. Are these the same thing? If so to save all the confusion I think this or either of these if they aren't the same will do for me. I hope they are in my budget. Yes, I could pay say £800 for one, but like I've said, I only want one to do the same as my dropped down the bog old phone was doing. Even If I did buy one that does everything, I wouldn't know to how to do everything on it, so why bother! my main concern on buying one is will I be able to connect it to my internet, and will I be able to avoid dropping it or spilling coffee or beer on it!

Think of a Chromebook as a powerful tablet built into a laptop case and you wont be far off mark. For most of my general Web surfing thisis what I use.
A windows laptop is more of a traditional pooter and even a modest one would be fine for your type of use. However, even a modest one is liable to cost rather more than a Chromebook with similar size screen, etc. For my more demanding computer usage, my OU work, running ham radio or music studio software, I use an i9 laptop.
Unless you're doing anything that is incredibly data hungry or which requires a particular program only available in Windows format a Chrome book will be ample.

yes you'll be able to connect it to your internet. Measure your toilet and buy one bigger than it. 👍

Why don't they make and sell waterproof laptop covers?! They used to have them on money tills in places like butcher and fishmonger shops to keep bits of food produce going from fingers to the digits, so why all these years later can't they make them for laptops?!!!

Yes, a friend of mine used to work for Currys when it was PC World. She told me they were instructed to try as hard as possible to sell the most expensive items, not the item the customer was asking advice about! The staff had sales targets to reach. If they didn't reach that monthly target they were rollocked by their manager!!!

Accy chromebook is ideal,Get down to PC World Currys.Asus is what i have £269.Read the papers,surf ,YouTube,CycleChat Top ones £499,plenty to choose from and easy to set up.if i can do it.HP are good,i went basic.
I guess it doesn’t do punctuation though.🫣

I bought a cheap Asus Chromebook for £144, the screen's like I muddy fishtank, and the touchpad's a PITA.

Anyway chromebook is having a holiday.It shuts down tonight.As it's owner goes to Zell am See on holiday.We begin our journey with a pick up from home at 11- 05,a very strange time,why not 11-00,then onwards to a hotel near Heathrow.An overnight stay and a 09-00 flight to Munich.So i will see you all when i return,night all.
