Cycle safety works to start
Work on cycle safety improvements at Bow roundabout is set to begin this month, following the deaths of two cyclists last year.
The development will include the capital's first ever 'early start for cyclists' system, which will give cyclists their own separate green light phase at the traffic lights, which will allow them to move on to the junction ahead of other traffic.
The location was part of a major review of cycle safety following last year's fatalities.
Road space will be widened, new signals will be installed and a cycle lane set apart from traffic on the approach to the early start will be provided.
The Department of Transport is funding the work at Bow roundabout and at other locations across London.
The improvements will be in place in time for the Olympics.
