And to get there, they'd to go through the lights the wrong way. You can just make out the "bike box" with the lane leading into it.

That's actually an offence for an LGV to be on the footway, whether its causing an obsteuftion or not.

It's parked on the entrance to a junction as well. The setts the front end is sat on marks the junction.

I can't rember if I have said this before or not

but if they started to enforce the ban around here it would cause chaos

firstly at the grand kids Primary school
There is a sort of system where people only go past one way - but still the cars on the left are on the pavement, with enough room to walk past witha pram, just leaving enough room to get past in a big car
and up the side street it is the same
I generally park a fair distance away and still pull onto the pavement to make it easy for other cars to get past
and no - I can't walk them home - it would take too long and not my choice of school!

secondly - the estate where we live
most people park on the pavement if outside a house
most house have space for at least one car - but a lot have 2/3 so park on the road. There would be room to get past with one parked properly (and some do where the pavement is narrow) but it does make it awkward to get past

I would like it if the people up by the entry road stopped doing it
they actually park on BOTH sides - and both on the pavement - meaning that when you pull off the main road you are pulling into a stretch with a VERY narrow gap for a car followed by a 90 degree sharp bend
so people approaching it are blind - from both ends

I always slow right down before pulling in from the main road which causes some problesm as the car behind is not aware of why I am slowing so much and why I am taking a wide turn in ratehr than moving to the left
so if they got tickets I would not complain


but the rest of the estate are being reasonable

think I sort of contradicted myself there - but it would require a decent warning for people to come up with new unofficial systems

The banking is about 45°, not as steep as it appears in the picture.

Yet it hasn't caused chaos in London where its been in force for 52 years.

If everyone did exactly as they were supposed to there would be no chaos. Sadly drivers regard the footway as a free-for-all and us pedestrians suffer the chaos.

There is already chaos. The only difference would that any chaos would caused by drivers would remain confined to those responsible for causing it for a change, and they'd soon get tired of that and modify their behavior, exactly as happened in Larndan.

If drivers dont like chaos, the solution is simple - stop causing it.

it would be good for landscaping companies that can flag from gardens!!!

My personal view is no one should be allowed to own a car if they have nowhere to store it, as happens in Tokyo.

Drivers would scream blue murder if I treated the highway as an extension of my property and took up space at the kerbside with a fridge or garden shed, so why is it ok for them to litter and obstruct the highway with an automobile?

Part of the problem is the majority of cars have got wider as a result of crash protection. Go back a couple of decades or so and two cars could park opposite each other with room for vehicles to pass between. Not any longer.
