A pavement parking odyssey

I'm surprised the local "Steptoe & Son" in a 22 year old Transit Flatbed haven't taken it by now

We do have a lorry that comes down here once in a while with the classic tinny speaker
and the "Old Iron" being called

well - I say "Old Iron" - that us how it started - it is sort of like a special dialect now

I have thought of mentioning it to them

Todays zig-zag parker was on their phone at the same time, oblivious to my filming them. Reported, so let's see what happens.

Not exactly pavement parking, more parking that blocks a path/pavement. Taken yesterday evening in my local cemetery. Some inconsiderate one parked, blocking the entrance or exit of this path! Yes, we could walk on the grass to get past the car, but imagine someone in a wheel chair or on a mobility scooter trying to get on or off that path!!

I live down a private spur road off the main highway. We've not had a problem, but a similar spur further along has had all sorts of grief with the self entitled using their property as a handy parking spot. Theyve erected a load of "private property, trespassers will be rogered by toothless hillbillies" type signs which I'm told has done the trick.

WIth that one I can imagine someone parking there as they had a passenger that has limited mobility and can only walk on the tarmac bits
so they stopped there to allow them to walk to the grave - or whatever

Thing is - they do not think and move the car a few feet forward to allow other to do the same after
although - people being people - if they did they might come back and find the person with the problems is now blocked by another car who has not moved it and is stuck

People do not seem to realise that "I just need to park here because" does NOT mean that cannot move it once the initial problem is overcome
like parking outside a house on a corner to unload a big heavy thing
then staying there for 5 hours while assembling it
Rather than moving the car down the road once the thing is out

Two zig-zag parkers today at the same point, one diagonally onto the pavement. Both came out whilst I was filming and one didn't care as it wasn't their car and on trade plates and SORN'd, with the other being untaxed. Both reported so we'll see what happens.

A separate offende there for the trade plates - using trade plates to pop out for a paper and a pack of Benson's isn't lawful...

Prohibited Uses - You cannot use trade plates for personal use or running private errands

As well as the dibble id report him to the DVLA at Trade.Licensing@dvla.gov.uk

Back at the old Drago Towers one of my neighbours had health care workers in at all hours and one one regularly turned up in different old knackers on trade plates. That stopped pretty quick after I reported it. I have to register my vehicles and pay the tax, and I fail to see why others think the laws and regulations of the road dont apply to them.

It looked like they'd been out for a drive for the afternoon so, yes, I'll be adding that in as well. Annoying me by doing a burnout as they came past at speed up a narrow residential street wasn't a good idea

My guess is they've been 'borrowed' from a local dealer they work at / own / a family member works at. It also doesn't help the trade plate car's registration is on Youtube showing a bodywork repair with their details

Its bad enough that theyre taking the pith, but to be so indiscreet about itmis almost insulting. They deserve a good anal invading from the DVLA if thats their attitude.

@Drago - I've found an advert for both cars from the same dealer, so now know who the trade plate owner is.

This car is parked at this junction pretty much every time i go past , i have used google street view and its there ...
Not sure if its technically illegal to park this close to traffic lights and most of the time its over the bike advanced stop line too and its ruddy silly place to park .

There is no way that is not breaking a few laws!!

and just plain stupid


but I can see the owner saying "But I am entitled to park outside my own house"!!


Some people on the roads in this estate are the same - just no traffic lights and less traffic
but that fact that the road is blocked and I seriously doubt a Fire Engine could get through - is outweighed by there entitlement to park their 3 cars outside their house

Of the two I reported yesterday the trade plated vehicle is being followed up by Op Snap, the other which was probably worse parked but further away isn't.
