A question on etiquette (I do seem to obsess over that word)...

If the Brixton cycles Jerseys are available in the shop, then wear it. I wear a Brixton cycles cap ....
I also wear Zappis club kit. They were happy to sell it to me even though they knew I was not a member (though I am aquainted with Flavio Zappi) ... it's free advertising after all.
I can't see any objection myself. You can get far too hung up on this stuff ....

@Dec66 Winnie used to do a shop ride on Thursdays. It was a nice relaxed affair and didn't just cater for those that could dash out straight after a nine to five day. The club has riders with a really nice range of experience and preferences. The last time I was in the shop there were different groups riding throughout the week. Some of the loops were a handful of miles around the local area. Even if you were only able to make it to a short evening ride once every couple of months I'm sure you would be very welcome and the experience would be beneficial. You seem to be in the ideal location to tag on for a couple of miles!

Thanks sir, I'll ask him about them next time I'm in there; I'll be taking the Mongoose and the Apollo TDF ("Old Reliable ") over there for winter fettling in a couple of weeks (notwithstanding his jokingly ordering me out of his shop last time for the crime of having a triple :laugh::laugh:) . I'd ride down to Penge for the meet, I wouldn't expect to geg in by us (it's all a fast downhill in any case!)

I'll take the little 'un with me to the shop, she likes bike shops in general and his fish tank in particular.

If you "were" a club member and are now not, you should give up the jersey.
You certainly should not really sell it on.

Not Cricket, well certainly in the 70's......pro team jerseys were OK but world championship stripes were a bit iffy !
I think national champ stripes are dodgy ground if you never won them. If you really must show your nationality, wear replica national team jerseys, not the championship one.

Although I won't wear them, I think maybe I approve of others wearing the world championship stripe pro team jerseys, especially if they're so slow at climbing hills that a couple of our freewheeling group can go scalp them :cycle: while the rest of us laugh
