Getting more into cookery and questioning some standard recipes.
I have made the meatballs.....they are in the fridge.
For the sauce Mrs Dave uses a simple recipe that I have always enjoyed but I want to make this "mine".
eg she always adds water but none of the online recipes mention it.. will sauce be too thick without it?
I have put plenty of garlic & spices in the meatballs...... should I do similar in the sauce or will that be overpowering?
Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks

It's a matter of taste I would never add water to a tomato sauce, and would more likely cook it for longer to reduce and thicken it. Mrs Dave obviously likes a different sort of sauce than me.

I do not believe a thick garlicky sauce would overwhelm the meatballs, but I love garlic!

Buy a potted basil and put a handful in at the very last moment before serving. Instant tomato & basil sauce. Nothing wrong imho with adding a little water to an over-thick tomato sauce.

Meat and cheese is an interesting one.

I like a cheeseburger, but wouldn't eat those two ingredients together in any other way.

Steak with a blue cheese sauce....:hungry:

A bit rich for my refined taste.

Further, a cheeseburger should only be made with relatively mild and tasteless processed cheese slices.

Some restaurants use proper cheese, which doesn't work.

Blue cheese again works wonders in a burger.
For me anyway.
