A search oddity

I was searching for Globalti's posts about his new K-Edge chain keeper and the search function returned zero results for K-Edge. It is definitely looking in those posts because I can find them if I just search for Edge. I'm assuming that it is the hyphen that is causing the problem?

Ah, I've just done some tests... It finds north-west in a post which has north but not west in it. It finds Clayton in a post including Clayton-le-Dale when searched for with Clayton+le but not with Clayton-le.

Obviously the + & - symbols are being used to qualify the search, but I think they shouldn't unless there is a space before them i.e. searching for 1+2=3 would find that but not 12=3x4!

Hmmm ... the quotes should work ... although we're using Sphinx for searching on CC to speed up querying 1.3 million posts so there may be some differences because of that.

I'll ask in the software support forums to see if there is a particular way of searching or whether they need to modify the Sphinx parsing code.
