If we scale universe down so the Sun is only 1mm in diameter then the nearest star is still over 18 miles way

That's just the kind of fact I love.

If you rub two nominally flat surfaces together in a random pattern then eventually they will become spherical, one concave, one convex.

If you rub three nominally flat surfaces together (A with B, then B with C, and C with A) in a random pattern then they will all eventually become even flatter - that's how you make surface plates for precision measurement.

Why am I the only one in our house to always get a little black bit in my porage.... and while I thinking about that I often ponder about why long handles screwdrivers are better at undoing tight screws than shorter ones, you still only turn the buggers...

I was once told that the long shaft acts like a torsion spring, storing energy, and allowed the effort you put in to the handle to be better transmitted to the screw.
I have since been told that that theory is wrong but I have tried it with a long stiff pipe on a short screw driver and it isn't as easy as a long shaft screw driver.

It is a bit like using a kenetic energy recovery rope (KERR) that is springy like a bungy cord. Much more effective thten a static, non stretchy, rope.

There are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth.

How long did it take you to count them?
