"Fontus is a self-filling water bottle by industrial designer Kristof Retezár that uses the moisture from humid air to create safe drinking water. It is a device made with cyclists making long journeys in mind, allowing riders to mount it on their bicycle and pedal along their path as the bottle fills itself over time."

Nice idea, and I like the environmental sustainability aspect of it .
The website lives up to its name, too, because I got distracted by this page on the site, with a cuteness overload: http://news.distractify.com/megan-mccormick/teeny-tiny-kittens-being-adorably-teeny-tiny/

It's hardly sustainable! It's made of a variety of plastics, all injection-moulded and it must contain a refrigerant like freon or whatever they use nowadays. Far more environmental to refill from a stream or the mains tap.

I expect it will end up being sold in Lakeland, which is a shop full of solutions looking for a problem.

What a load of crap. It produces on drop per minute....one drop!

That's 3ml per hour, completely useless. Presumably their claim of 0.5l per hour in suitable circumstances requires one to ride round and round inside a sauna

Sauna = Houston, Texas in the summer.......and by summer I mean May to September. Not a complaint - love it!

All sounds like a USA telly advert: 1pt/hr, but wait, THERE'S MORE. It's quick, it's easy and it's free!

Looks like it needs a bit more work.. but the theory is there! not a UK viable product mind! :P Round here you leave the bottle open enough spray comes up off the road to fill a bottle, filter that I guess it MIGHT be drinkable! ;)

Similarly:
NEWS FLASH: Ebola - you are all going to DIE, horribly.
Next advert: Medical Co R Us; Ebola - we've got a pill for that. Only $8000 per pill. Do not take these pills for erections lasting more than 4 hours.

If you have an erection lasting more than four hours, please contact your medical provider. Women who are pregnant, or may be pregnant, should not handle this pill.

You could build a hollow fender with filters incorporated that would gather the water and then fill a bottle with the water, but they'd have to be pretty effective filters. My Father always figured you need fenders for what is on the road that is not water.
