A wheel deal or no deal..

The next upgrade on my 2014 giant defy 2 is some new wheels and tyres. After having done 1000k on the standard wheels and tyres I feel it's now time for an upgrade.

Having read some very helpful posts on here I have started looking on wiggle and noticed the below deal. Including tyres and tubes is this a good deal? The 5's seem to get good reviews but being one of the only wheel and trye deal on there with no reviews makes me think twice.

Very good wheels (I have two pairs), good tyres (although not the most puncture proof), tubes (all much of a muchness)

I paid £190 for the wheels alone recently (although that was fitted), so £200 with the rubber is a good deal. If you've done that many miles on the cassette, it might be worth changing at the same time and also the chain (1000km, 700 miles isn't actually that much on the components)

I run Fulcrum 5's and they're pretty bombproof. They're my 'best' wheels on a Spesh Secteur Comp and have done over 7500 miles in 2 years on them without any issues. I'd highly recommend them.

Thank You. I'm guessing I'd have no issues in them fitting? Looking at the options there's campangolo or shimano/SRAM

I also keep the cassette and chain clean and greased and seems okay at the moment but I'll keep that in mind for the near future.

Go for it, Dan.
I bought that bundle last week to upgrade my defy 4 stock wheels.
I've only done 100 miles so far but they feel like a big improvement.
Bear in mind the tyres are only 23mm - I'll probably just use them as summer tyres and change back to 25's for the winter.

Initially I was wondering what real benefit an upgrade would be, because I'm an 'upgrade it when it's broken' kind of cyclist - but then I noticed you'd done a million miles on your current wheels - I think yours are definitely due for a replacement!

Another thing to think about is the weight of the wheels you dont want to get new wheels that are heavier.. lighter is better?

Fulcrum 5s are pretty light, certainly compared to a stock wheel

You'll need Shimano/SRAM

If you know how to fit a cassette etc, it shouldn't be an issue (I don't really do bike maintenance, so happy for Evans to fit for free)
