Just had a 'conversation' with an operative who I couldn't understand due to a heavy accent...seems they completly messed up and sent emails that should never have been sent, calculated payments incorrectly, and changed what we agreed by phone without telling me and then tried to set up.a ddm I.never agreed to.

End result, and apology and £40 off the bill for all the hassle and a complaint issued.

At least it's raining and the time couldn't.have been better spent on my.bike.

Donuts.

We had a letter from them with the same threatening tone.
Funny how they've been trying to read our meter for eighteen months. We were with someone else up until January...

Got an e-mail through last night...
...
to say i've phoned Npower and gone completely freaking nuclear down the phone at them is an understatement,
...
i'm spitting blood i'm that angry at them....
Chill, my lad. Have you actually been messed about or inconvenienced? No - all that's happened is that you have had an arsey email, telling you to do something which you are prepared to do anyway.
If that's all it takes to tip you over the edge, your world must be a frustrated and snarly place.

The OP looks like a scam to me. I would firstly check with a proper number for the supplier to see if they sent it. The email probably wants you to phone some number that charges you £20.
Yeah i thought that at first, but after checking it turns out to be real. i've phoned em and had a good go now anyways. waiting for a callback from their complaints team. lets see if that gets me anywhere.

We're with Ecotricity for electric and gas, probably not a company you've heard of but they invest all profit into renewable sources, not the measley 6pc that they're legally obliged to (and only a couple even reach this!).

Never had an issue with them at all, wholeheartedly recommend them over any and all of the big companies.

I think you are just making my point.
Going into full rant mode isn't a good way of dealing with any issue. First, it stops you looking at the realities of the situation; second, it antagonises whoever you are dealing with; and third, it soaks up energy which can be spent more productively.

It's an email, hardly a life threatening incident.

OK the words might be badly chosen but does it warrant such a rise in your blood pressure?

'Going nuclear' is best left to those with the weaponry to deliver the threat.

Chilling out is a pretty cool response mechanism. :hello:

I've had similar - I ignored it. Some time ago the wrote asking for access to check one of the meters. I rang the number on the letter to arrange it - first thing the automated system asked for was my account number. They hadn't bothered to put the account number on the letter. I didn't bother ringing back...

I used to work in IT for npower. I know it's not rocket science to put a number on a letter. If they can't be bothered then why should I.

Best way to deal with poor customer service is to buy elsewhere. Too many people stay with the same energy supplier out of inertia. I've just moved to Ecotricity - not entirely happy that they tried to charge £100 per month for gas when all I have is a gas cooker, but they quickly sorted it out.

if switching across providers don't forget there could be a big 'catch up' bill to settle. I moved to british gas because They called and convinced me it would be cheaper and better yada yada and I was having a bad day and im gullable etc...anyway...I forgot (and they didn't mention) that on my tariff there would be a catch up payment to make...having just come trough a cold winter this reached over £600!!!!!.....Ive checked it all out and it's legit and on given meter readings...but had I been more on the ball I would have left it alone....and spread it. Anyway now Im paying back in instalments...that is if these people can ever get it together to accept a simple standing order.

I resisted the temptation to move from Scottish Power and Scottish Gas back when the market opened up and everyone was promising the earth to get you to switch or turning up at your door to launch into the hard sell. Given the stories I've heard from workmates, family and now here over the years I'm pretty glad I did. I've also saved a fair bit by paying a little extra each month to guarantee that my price won't rise for the next year - worked it out and the extra never exceeded the cost that I'd be paying if I'd not taken up the offer and been hit by all of the price rises ^_^

Hope everyone suffering their current supplier nightmares get them sorted soon.

My initial post was a rant yes a "post dealing with" rant. i had in fact at that point already spoken with npower politely but firmly and expressed my views that i thought their treatment was disgusting, if you shout at people you get nowhere. but my quote was not, it was a thank you for jumping to conclusions based on the fact you have no idea who i am or how i live my life, and frankly i didn't find your opinion of myself too flattering and i seriously question your qualification to judge me in the first place. (judge not lest ye be judged). but then you can't please everyone on the intermanets. i'll use you as my example.
thanks.

re initial issue, provider switch is in the offing, not heard back from npower complaints team (gee i'm surprised) so yeah see what i can see, i rather like the idea of the renewables lot. see what's out there
