Adblock for a Kindle Fire HD?

Anyone have a Kindle Fire with a working adblock on it? I couldn't find one for the Silk browser, but the Dolphin claimed to have one. I downloaded it, but now I can't seem to do anything with it. You can't just double-click it or anything, and when you press on the icon, no options come up. TBH I really am a novice with the thing - I've only ever used it for reading books - but I've recently lent out three laptops to people who need them more than I do, leaving me with a grand total of none, so I'm trying to use the Kindle instead, but the ads are really getting on my tit.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Download chrome onto it.

I understood ads (or the absence thereof) on Kindles to be controlled by Amazon, i.e. you can pay Amazon to have all ads turned off. Usually you take out that option when you purchase the Kindle, with a £10 surcharge on the price of the Kindle for it. Not sure what your options are, after purchase, but suggest having a little dig around your Amazon Kindle account.

Go to settings, select 'accept downloads from any source', find somewhere that lets you download the Chrome .apk of your choice, download it, sorted.

Thanks but that doesn't work. I've downloaded chrome, but it won't download the ad blocker. You go to the page, click on the link and...nothing happens. No download, no install, nothing.

So then I found that dolphin supposedly has an ad blocker, which I downloaded and installed. But then it pops up a message saying it'll only work if you download and install dolphin jetpack. And guess what? You can get to a page for dolphin jetpack, but when you click on the button to download and install it...nothing happens.

So, back to square one. With a difference. I now have silk and dolphin and chrome, and I supposedly have an adblocker for dolphin, which won't work. What I don't have is a single browser that will work with an adblocker. And God, I'd forgotten just what a pain it is not having one. Especially on a 7" screen. The internet is a complete no-go zone.

Anyone who uses a non adblocked tablet to browse must have stronger nerves than me. It's like wading through treacle. And about 80% of what you can see is ads. I give up. I'm going to get a new laptop.

Thanks anyway, but this thing is only useful for reading books.

Have you checked your Amazon account? See post #3 above.
Yeah, no the thing about the tenner is to do with Amazon making your Kindle's home screen have/not have an ad. It has nothing to do with the ads that appear on sites when you visit them.

This might be worth a try, I used to use this a while ago and it was pretty good.

Sadly I think thats the price you pay for the kindles cheap retail price. You could root it and put a better OS on it but probably more hassle than you want, plus you would lose the things that the kindle fire can do. Enhanced Ebooks etc
