Just been searching through an old address book trying to find an address for an old friend .

Do you write them using first name , Surname or ???

The one i was looking for was under L as it's the first letter of his surname

What is proper way of doing them ?

What does it matter if it's a personal address book?
Put then in the order you're most likely to remember them.

Having worked in a bank for a lot of years, before I ever needed an address book of my own, it was natural for me to list people under surname, then first names and address. But that was just what I was accustomed to....

Be consistent

However what this means in reality with any address book is your family name never has enough pages!

My wife asked me to text her an address for one of her friends.
The friend is called Becky, we have always known here as Becky. There was no entry under either B or her surname.
After a frustrating search I eventually found her under Rebecca. We have never called her Rebecca!

That sounds just like my address book

What I find most weird is that you lot have an address book in the first place. I don’t think I have had one of those for close to 20 years.
