Yup, exactly that.

Which didn’t stop the international sales team of the British Standards Institution dishing out promotional teabags, which always went down well with foreign customers 😁

I seem to remember them getting an Ig-nobel prize and they turned up to accept it with comedy teapot / pipe-to-cup headgear on; good sports that they were. They'd intended to make a holiday of it and pay their own way, but apparently the management got wind of it and paid their expenses as it was seen as a valid publicity stunt for the institute.

For those unfamiliar Ig-noble prizes are awarded by the science community for comedic bits of valid research or sometimes as satire when "awarded" for outrageous political decisions. Another funny one was a prize for a group that had in all seriousness been looking into a correlation between foot sizes and penis sizes. The presiding officials (who were real Nobel laureates) had all dressed in comedy giant size clown shoes for giving the prize to the winners.

I have a keyboard case for my new Android tablet and it has a US layout so it rather annoyingly (for a Brit) has a dollar key rather than a pound key. It doesn't have a numeric keypad so I can't use the Alt-numpad keyboard alternative. I have resorted to typing prices like this -> GBP 37.19, which was irritating me.

I thought that there must be an alternative and I just found it...

I had previously set the layout to US-English. I found a suggestion to change it to US International English and... that worked - £37.19! £ is typed by R-Alt + R-Shift + $ key (above the 4)... ££££££££!!!!!!!!!

showing my ignorance - why would you want/need to do that? If you have spare laptop memory that you want to put in a PC?

DDR5 memory prices are shooting up for at least desktop PCs, so if wanting to build a new PC or upgrade the memory in what you have, it might be cheaper to buy laptop DDR5 and chuck it in an adapter.

Apparently a lot to do with major memory manufacturer doing a big contract with AI companies, leaving supplies for low for the public relative to demand, causing significant price increases.

Obvious, but the move to wind, solar and EVs has certainly started to flatten demand for oil.
