Yes i remember going to Weston Super Mare on holiday in the 70's, and my dad moaning every day about not being able to get a lather on his shaving stick.:cursing:
IIRC WsM is right on the border between hard and soft water supplies and different parts of the town have rather different water hardness, depending whether they get water from the Mendips (soft) or the levels (hard).

Wouldn't that scan the hole too?
True, I was hoping people would realise the need to edit the model between the two stages!
to add to many of the other good ideas above - hot melt glue, (providing the thing never gets hot +50c) it is the most useful glue I have ever come across for plastics, dry and useable as soon as it cools (5 mins) ,
That's interesting.

When I first tried to devise a repair, I racked my brains trying to think of something liquidy that I could dip the body of the valve into (after first masking off the inlet) and which would then solidify/harden around it (maybe repeating several times).

I couldn't think of anything suitable, but hot-melt glue sounds like it might fit the bill, thanks for the suggestion.
It doesnt work like that, you have a gun that heats up a stick of glue and when you squeeze the trigger hot viscous glue is produced at the nozzle. It sticks to many different things but I have found it particularly good with plastics, and as it is cured by cooling it is excellent between impermeable surfaces.
something like this link and that was just the first one appeared on a search rather than a recommendation.
Thanks, I understand the distinction. I've ordered one from our local Toolstation branch, I'll report back on developments.
