That's interesting.
When I first tried to devise a repair, I racked my brains trying to think of something liquidy that I could dip the body of the valve into (after first masking off the inlet) and which would then solidify/harden around it (maybe repeating several times).
I couldn't think of anything suitable, but hot-melt glue sounds like it might fit the bill, thanks for the suggestion.
