Hi,

I was looking for a bike that I can commute to work on a daily basis, roughly a 10 mile round trip.

I have only ever had a mountain bikes in the past so I am new to hybrids/road bikes.

I will rarely be going off road/path maybe the odd dirt path/patch of grass.

I will be looking to go for weekend bike rides though.

I had two bikes in mind, these are the following:

Cube Peloton Pro 2015

Cube SL Road Race 2015

Thanks in advance!

The Peloton Pro isn't very well specced for the price but I do like the look of the SL Road Race.

Usual advice is try a few on at your LBS and see what fits the best. Also have a look at Planet X (they have a nice carbon bike for £800) and as usual I will recommend the bike I have just got - B'Twin Alur 700. Paid £599 for it and it is an absolute bargain, much better buy than the Peloton Cube.

A word of caution, my mate's Cube (Peloton with 105) have been nothing but trouble with cheap parts failing. Buy the best quality you can. I don't think I'd ever get a Cube but there are many who swear by them!

A piece of advice: get the best frame you can. Everything else is changeable.

You may also want to look hard at whether you'll be riding in wet weather. Disc brakes are coming quickly to the road cycling world.

Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it!

So would it be best to get a Carbon frame with disc brakes for starters? I'm open to upgrading parts but at first will just be using it straight out of the box.

I am liking the look of the SL Road Race, just because of the Handlebars, tyre size/type and the option to go off road if required. This also has disc brakes which is a plus.

Although it is not Carbon but not sure how much of a disadvantage this is?

annirak: What would you say is the best frame at the moment for under £1000? on a hybrid if possible.

Thanks.

After looking into it more I think I would be best suited to a Hybrid.. originally I was undecided between the two that is why I posted both.

Just wanted a bit of advice on them.

Do you have an Evans or a test ride friendly LBS close by? If so, go ride a few bikes in your price range and aesthetic range
