I have questions.
I would love some examples of the bicycle slang I am not supposed to use from 1895.
What the hell are those bloomers made of that you could strike a match on them? Was women's skin actually made of asbestos back in the day?

I guess tweed or canvas. Matches can be struck on a variety of surfaces. providing there's enough friction to generate some heat.
 
Bloomers are strangely missing from this otherwise comprehensive list
