Well I'm not an expert. But the main problem I have, is where did the first atom come from? Was it just simply there?
No, the big bang nicely explains how the first atoms were formed. It does not explain how the big bang came into creation, I grant you.
However, as so much of what has been explained in the bible has turned out to be false, it is unlilkely that Christianity (or any other religion) managed to get that one small part right and everything else so wrong.
It may turn out there's beings creating the universe, but from all evidence put forward and what has been presented by faiths so far, religion as we know is is simply not it. Therefore believing in supernatural beings may have some logic, but not any of the text which forms the majority of teachings as there's simply no evidence for it to be true
