OK its that time of year again when we're all thinking, "maybe I should start doing some christmas shopping". Well I am .
Him in doors has just said don't buy me anymore cycle shirts or clothing in general so I'm stuck on what to buy him. I always try to buy him something he doesn't expect and as he doesn't wear aftershave I thought I might treat him to some.
He says he doesn't like wearing it yet he always comments on his mates when he's been on a lads night out.
So begs the question; What would you recommend boys?

I like joop, but to be honest, just get him some cycling mitts!

Some men wear after shave, some don't. If your man doesn't, don't give him any. Sorry. That doesn't help. I do think the idea of getting him a 'self-indulgently costly version' of something you know he likes, as suggested above by Mr Jamie, is a good one.

This is a right can of worms and every man/woman will give you a different answer. So you will never get a definitive answer, you can have my ten peneth for what it's worth.

The one that i would recommend has been in the top 3/5 in more or less every survey for the last 5 years. That's men and woman.

If you insisted you could get him CK One, which is unisex so you could wear it too. Otherwise the nicest men's fragrances around at the moment are 212 for Men and Boss Orange. My advice would be to get him a nice shower gel; he will enjoy using that after a ride then he will smell nice for you too. M&S do a good one from FCUK.

My other half no longer buys aftershave for me.....the last bottle had one splash taken out of it during the first week. Then all it did for the next three years was to collect dust.
Sorry I don't know what brand it was.

If he doesn't wear aftershave then don't buy any.

I don't wear aftershave, or any perfumed stuff but folks keep spending their hard earned income on it. Still trying to get rid of three cans of Lynx spray from 2 (or was it 3) years ago!

Get him some Lego Technic? A Machine Mart cycle shop gift voucher? A book/DVD of heavy haulage trucks cycling?

Techno Lego sounds good. That gives me an idea for the boys christmas crackers! The book is ordered so is the CD's and the DVD waiting for true blood season 5 to reach our shores. The whole idea of the after shave was to buy him something he wouldn't expect me to buy him! and what better place to ask for recommendations  I do agree it should be called man parfum as most men don't splash it all over like the old days . I am old enough to remember those High karate adds, as well as Brut . He says he doesn't like aftershave, but why would he coment on the fragrance with a sort of envy? Cheers on the heads up of a few brands to check out. If you do have a favourite keep 'em coming as I won't be off shopping 'till next week, or if your a lady maybe you could tell me your favourite mans fragrance

Another thing to consider with perfumes, it may smell nice out of the bottle/spray can but the smell really depends on how it reacts with body chemistry so he would really need to be there to try it to make sure it does work.

He may pass envious comments on other people wearing perfumes but that maybe because they don't work on him.

I don't wear anything scented, though I do like the smell of some, as I react badly to some of the scents and most of the carriers used. I hyperventilate, develop a migraine, and then pass out.

Perfume doesn't react with body chemistry; it's very stable chemically. What happens is that everybody has a different odour, partly thanks to the food they eat so some perfumes don't work with some body odours. In the Indian subcontinent people smell spicy so very little oriental perfume like Opium or Shalimar is sold, mostly people use light florals.
