I hope I have posted in right place. I have for quite a while been looking for that elusive perfect lbs. I regret that I have not yet found it. I do have to report a very bad experience in search of that perfect bike shop. It started in search of a winter training bike. I have been riding about 3 years or so and I am quite comfortable about what I was looking for however a very important part of what i was looking for was that of bike fit. I went to a shop that stated that any carbon bike would come with a retul fit. Any aluminium bike would come with a professional bike fit consisting of setting up bike on a turbo trainer looking at cleat set up saddle height etc etc. because of this I bought a bike from these guys. First off at the point of viewing the bike a focus cx I was told delivery was 6 days on point of purchase I was told two weeks. It took 4 weeks for the bike to turn up. On the eve of picking it up the bar tape was not even on this was haste fully rectified and my professional bike fit consisted of riding up and down the road whilst Simon the salesman stood with his back to me chatting with his mate whilst checking on my bike fit. Luckily I have a few years riding under my belt I know what bike fits me only because I have had a few and did my research. Please please please avoid swift cycles strype st London near cycle surgery just off middlesex st I have had better service from a cycle king. Oh I forget to mention that I was after a cervelo ps2 tt bike as well as a summer carbon toy such as the izalco pro.

Thanks for listening

But wanted to try out a new lbs with a cheap focus cx bike first

if you know what fits you, why did you need a bike fit..?

It is always good for a double check and if it is offered on their website as part of a standard sale then I am going to have one and if they do not offer it am going to shout loudly. My point is I know what fits I spent over a grand in that poxy shop and was treated like a daffodil I do not want a newbie going through the same thing. Is your name Simon from swift cycles?

No, in the words of The Ting Tings - 'That's not my name'. What did they say when you asked them "where's my bike fit"..??

A load of old corporate bollocks as there was a bloke on the Turbo when I turned up to collect the bike. I was not offerred a fit at all he said let's get you on the road to check for fit. The guy said he would watch me and spent the entire time with his back to me chatting to his mate. i did not intend to strop you bny but if you feel that the bike shops actions are justified in some way then I would love to hear your reasoning as to why

Obviously not justified - but I am a little suprised by the way you appear to have let them get away with it and then got home to vent your anger on the internet, rather than at the bike shop (which would have been the most obvious place to complain).

I probably would have started a conversation with them along the lines of "Hang on fellas, this was not what we agreed.."

Agree with what you say but after 4 weeks of waiting for a bike though and being fobbed off it was almost a case of I know what you are going to do, i know what will happen, i know how you are going to treat me let me give you enough rope and you can go hang yourself. Last night I was drunk this morning I am angry which is even worse but rest assured I will be taking it up with the bike shop directly when they open on Monday. In the mean time I will keep bumping this thread the product is great but the service was shoddy I complained at the time at how long the bike was taking
to get delivered you'd think the least they would do would be to make sure that I was happy and offer it feels personal I feel like they have taken me for a mug and whatever i said would have fallen on deaf ears hence why I am venting my spleen on here and even contemplating signing up to bike radar ! and posting on there. I have had bad service they had a chance to put it right but didn't if you say you are going to do something just damn well do it I am sick and tired of listening to companies talking about how great they are and delivering the complete opposite

If I had just parted with a grand and hadn't got what I had been promised, I would have been complaining in the shop and speaking with the manager at the very least. Not on in my opinion. Also, the amount of time that you were kept waiting for the bike surely deserves a bit of a discount. 6 days to 4 actual weeks is a bit off I think.

Are you happy with the bike now you have it?

If i had been in your position i would have got off the bike, said to the saleman "ever heard of customer service" and left.

I use 4 LBS from a 1 man shop to a large showroom affair, all give me good service. There is one near me i wont use because the saleman was rude.

Chill out guys ! However IMHO if the shop offers a service they should do it. I just wonder why you let them not "do you" ? After all if they'd offered you a bike with a tyre missing you would have refused it so it seems to me they were simply avoiding part of the deal. Ok if you were in a hurry but when spending that sort of cash I woud expect some good service. Remember, if you had been buying a new car [even a cheap one] the dealers can't be nice enough, cups of coffe, little free extra's, even free delivery. Just because you're buying a bike some dealers seem to feel they can do as they please, all you wanted was what they had offered, if you had time I would have simply refused to take the bike [I know that's hard to do when you want the thing, but the time comes when you do have to say NO].

I would have walked away but have experienced similar service when I have bought other bikes all from local bike shops the only time I have got decent service was from a large chain cycle king buying a 180 quid bso. after waiting that long for a bike the last thing I wanted to do was go through the whole friggin process again next time I am buying off the Internet

In my experience - and although the initial service was clearly not up to scratch - the measure of good service is how well shops deal with and rectify mistakes. It's a shame you didn't give them the opportunity.

Bny I did on the phone with the initial delay they chose to ignore me and follow it up with even worse service how can I tell in advance that they will not offer something until they do not offer it they had a. Chance to put things right with the after sales but didn't
