i need to get some winter longs and some overshoes and they're a lot cheaper than any bike shop but then i do believe that you get what you pay for

Overshoes not very good. Longs, probably not as good as the bib pair I got from Decathlon for £2 more. I like the normal shorts I bought in the spring.

It took me ages to realise what San Mig was. I thought it was some new terminology for a jacket I wasn't aware of.

I will have a look a the stuff when it comes in next week. I have some aldi stuff and as a rule it's ok for the price.

I have always found the short sleeve shirts to be really good, not much difference between Aldi ones and something costing £40-50. Shorts can be a bit iffy, OK fo a short half hour commute or so. Jackets are OK too, not exactly gore tex type performance but for the price you can't go too wrong.

oh yeah....the bike shoes are well worth getting. I bought a pair for £20 4 years ago and still use them after at least 10,000 miles. They look like sh*t though, so I'm going to get some more.

I bought one of the waterproof/windproof jackets last year. For the money I thought it was excellent. Its not the most breathable jacket but it keeps me dry, stops the wind and is very light to carry.

I use some of their stuff for commuting to work and it does the trick. I can leave spare outfits at work.

Just a few niggles: zips can be very weak - I got some gillets a few years ago and the zips went first time on. I see they now mention brand-name zips.

Other issue is sizes, can vary a lot so worth trying on in the shop.

I went into aldi yesterday and bought a soft shell cycle jacket. It looks like the one on the first page but a few more reflective bits on he arms. They were up for £16.99 but when i got to the till had gone down to £12.99 so I got 2 haven't tried them out yet but they feel and fit very nicely

Thanks for the heads up - needed to visit Aldi this weekend for a pitstop to pick up bits and pieces for a Snowdon trek next weekend. Will postpone that pitstop until Thursday after work now and grab some extra kit.
