Hurrah - finally some ladies' bib tights! - and, dare I hope to dream - they're not even pink...

S'up with you?
Us occasional commuters need the extra warmth, not battle hardened any more
If fossyant is like me, then it's just that any lobster gloves make me feel a bit queasy, like every time I look at my hand, I would have to rip off the glove real quick to make sure my hand didn't really look like that.

Just got back from a 'supermarket sweep' of Aldi

5 cans of GT85.
2 tool kits and 2 bike stands (for myself and a friend)
LS Performance Jersey
Rain jacket
Breathable socks
Long bib pants
HR monitor
Merino base layer
Performance wool socks
Bike lock
Puncture repair kit

Mini-Review:
  • GT85 £2 a pop, bargain - saving 26p/can on prices else where and no postage. :wahhey:
  • Tool kits £19, lots of stuff inside, feels a bit like them toolkits with spanners and clear plastic screwdrivers you used to get as a birthday present when you had your first car (might be showing my age there), sure it will do the job for very occasional use but feels like it might not last the journey. That said, you would be very hard pushed to collect a similar set of cheap tools for less than twice the price. Comes with a puncture repair kit inside as well. So overall, happy with the purchase as a starter kit for the price.
  • Bike stands £29, Not opened the bike stands yet, so no comment on these.
  • Rain jacket £19, good for commuting I would expect, like the under arm zip vents. Doesn't pack down very small so probably not so useful for none commuting. Mixed basket of Mens and Ladies jackets in store so make sure you get the right type! ;)
  • LS Performance Cycling Jersey £17, nice, quite happy with this.
  • Breathable socks £12, not tried yet, feels a bit neoprene-ish but other reports suggest they are good for keeping the damp out, these will assist my old walking boots.
  • Long bib pants £29, seem OK, XL is a little bit baggy on the legs for me (pondering should I return and try the L size) pad about the same as the dhb Aeron Cycling Bib Shorts (which are £21 a pair)
  • Merino top £16, fits ok but itches, might be better after a wash, but I have a feeling this might be why I don't have any wool tops! LOL
  • HR monitor £12. Not Bluetooth or ANT+ but works. I was hoping it might be Bluetooth to use with my tablet our rowing machine, but no luck there. For £12 however, the watch can be cable tied to the rowing machine and I am sure it will do the job.
  • Bike Lock £5, bought to lock up some ladders in the garden, doubt I would use it for a main bike lock, but perhaps better than the similar Tesco lock I used to use to lock my front when in addition to my D-Lock when commuting.
  • Puncture repair kit £3, bought to use as replacements stock for the little kit I carry on bike.
  • Socks £4, the description is correct, they are socks, not much more to be said I think!
Also looked at the light set, rear looked quite big for what it was so didn't bother, I think it was like a combination or red reflector with LEDs in it. Not what I was after to didn't get one. Already for the long fingered gloves from a few years ago, happy with these so didn't get another set. Didn't see the lobster gloves. Looked at the shoes, fairly stiff but only went up to a 10 in mens so didn't bother trying them on.

Hope that helps. I was surprise I had over £200 in the basket, might have gone a bit mad there

I checked Aldi kit out earlier in the year and it was shockingly bad quality for the cash, £40 for bib longs in that price range you are in Wiggles DHB range.

To be honest the prices for this lot are pretty high. Could get stuff of much better quality for same price so I'm not going...

In response to @jiberjaber , the bikestands are pretty good, it's how I store a couple of mine in (what used to be) the utility room.
The GT85 is vfm
I have resisted the urge, may pick up some plants for Mrs D to pop in the winter window boxes and have a dig through what's left tomorrow but plan is rather than spend 60 quid + on the winter performance top and longs (and impulse stuff), to spend on kit I actually need/want/crave *puts pennies in jar for gabba fund* .
