Has anyone here bought anything from the Aldi sale which started yesterday?

Being new to cycling I could do with most things but obviously need to do so on a relative budget but don't want to buy rubbish hence asking for people experiences of their kit.

I'm perticularly interested in things to keep me warm during the winter months.

Thanks.

Their jackets are great, I can't wear mine if it's more than 5C it's that warm. Gloves are also very warm.

I have one of their previous winter jerseys and it's great, but the pockets on the new ones are daft, so I'm only using it on the commute when all I'll have in there is my phone and keys.

The winter tights are lovely and warm but the pads are a bit suspect. I only use them for commuting as they get uncomfortable in less than an hour, and I have a much nicer DHB pair from Wiggle for longer leisure rides in winter.

Not bad to get you going on a budget, but it's also not as cheap as it used to be and Wiggle now has some DHB ranges that come very close to Aldi prices.

I got a winter top and the winter tights as well as a pair of shoe covers, gloves and a helmet cover..... basically to extend my winter kit to 2 sets, I was going to get a jacket...BUT....as I wear a Btwin 500 hi viz jacket in the cold and wet....I decided not to bother with one....

Their HiViz rainproof jacket is great, mine has done 2 winters already, doesn't look it, but very warm with just a base layer underneath. Will need reproofing if you wash it half a dozen times, so once a season in my case
Last year I got a pair of their performance winter longs on the "left over" sale. They are not very good, reflectives did peel off after only one wear.
The running/cycling hiviz straps with led light are excellent, so is the merino base layer. The winter gloves are a bit bulky for me, very warm though.
Also got a winter cycling jacket, not waterproof, that is really warm, but the zip in the back pocket broke fairly quick.
Waterproof trousers are boil in the bag, good for short rides only.

My GF called on her way home from a friends earlier and she said our local branch has loads of stuff so I'm going down for a mooch in the morning.

Really want some tights but the lack on padding is a bit of a problem. My rides generally are 1.5hrs+ so I'm gonna need something semi tidy.

Thanks all for your views on the kit, much appreciated.

I like their gloves, but this year I've bought a pair of their lobster gloves. They only had small or extra large, so I bought the XL ones as if it's that cold I will probably want another pair underneath.

Can any of the ladies comment on the tights leg length, whenever I hold it up against me in the shop they always appear a little on the short side?

Blimey, I got some lobsters in size medium, you must have hands like a clown :o)

Favourites Aldi gear is the Winter jacket, gloves and the socks, tried tights/cycling pants but the shape and pad were awful.

They are fine for me @summerdays, but I'm only 1.60.
I have issues with their waist/tight ratio, if there's no drawstring they don't stay up. then the pad catches in the saddle.
This may be due to my odd shape though

I bought a long sleeved jersey. XL. I was expecting to have to take it back as I expected a skimpy XL but it actually fits, with plenty to spare for a base layer. Result! Nice and long too. Slightly crappy single pocket but hey ....

I bought trousers, a jacket, lots of gt 85 and 2 sets of lights. I can testify to the lights being very bright - my husband thought it would be humorous to shine them in my face when I returned to bed after a trip to the bathroom at 3 o'clock this morning.

Just socks and gloves.

I've enough jerseys and whilst the jacket looked good I can't justify another.
There was a woman in the one I visited trying on the socks, then putting them back in the box and on the shelf. Then putting her own socks back on.
I mean, I can understand trying on shoes, but socks? Aren't they stretchy and cover a range of sizes?
