The fence at the bottom of my garden just has its pressure treating that it came with and after 5 years it’s covered in Algae.
The fence in my front garden which I own has been there 10 years and was painted in Creoseal (now Creosolve) and has no Algae at all.

Have used both Patio Magic and Algon. Both worked well even in the relatively hostile climate of moist hillside in Portugal. Spray once a year

Cake or ice cream? The choice is endless ...
I pressure washed mine from enough distance and wide spray pattern to remove the algae (but not destroy the wood!) then, once dry, two coats of Cuprinol 'One Coat'.

Whether the algae eventually comes back or not, time will tell.

was going to wash mine off with bleach solution then paint with something like this?

Yep!

This from a NZ manufacturer - they know about wet and mossy esp on decks.

Works like a dream, as does their shower product.
