 Nasty one! Have a stiff drink or three. These sort of incidents are best put down to experience. There was nothing you could do that you didn't, i.e. you are still here. Could have happened even if you were just walking up that lane.

As for the driver, lets hope this puts her off driving for good!

I've been a cycle commuter for about 20 years now in London and I've never experienced anything nearly as scary. You definitely need a break this weekend.

Christ.

There does seem to be two factors involved in this, one is obviously the elderly lady's ability to drive but the other is possibly the garage's responsibility to make sure she can handle the motor?

Not that I think the garage has any true legal responsibility you would hope they'd say "old dear, better just check"

Glad you're ok!

I think blaming the garage is completely wrong! If she has a licence to drive a manual and she didn't object to it then I see no problem. In the end of the day, she got confused and could of caused a serious incident.

Whilst true I have to say its something you hope they would have thought of. I mean, when an elderly person gets served food in our restaurant we will often check they are ok to carry their tray, drinks etc.. not because we have to but because its polite and may save a minor accident.

Just saying, not really complaining as such. ;)
