I've decided to cut down on the number of cups of coffee I have a day. I want a drink (no not that sort!!!), now but it's less than 2 hours since the last one. So what alternative drinks do you recommend. I've tried the occasional herbal drink in the past but they give me indigestion if I drink too many of them.
Decaff coffee? ( heresy I know)

Name me one person who's ever died of drinking too much coffee. Just one.
If you drink proper espresso coffee - long, short or tall - you cannot drink too much.

I started drinking green tea first thing in the morning instead of drinking coffee. These days I drink the gunpowder variety, half an old fashioned salt spoon in a smallish teapot, usually only brewing it long enough for the water to go a pale straw (now there's a term to play with).

My coffee I start brewing after breakfast & have the one pot going all day, mostly peaberry. That's pretty weak too, 2x scoops for 4 mugs.

What effects are you trying to avoid? If not the caffeine, why do you want to cut down?
I was reading something at the weekend about ageing, bone density, and osteoporosis, and caffeine was suggested to remove calcium from the bones. It wasn't an in depth study of the health risks more a sort of well I ought to try a little harder to stay healthy. A friend has recently discovered she has broken her ankle in the past after it was x-rayed after another fall, she has other problems but it set the wheels ticking! She's only in her 40's.

The biggest cause of osteoporosis is the menopause...if concerned ask your GP what to d to mitigate the risks

Tea has caffeine in it too of course

Personally I consume plenty of caffeine, am incredibly clumsy and appear to have bones of steel!
