Hi all,

Ive got a Blackburn custom lo rider front rack fitted on my bike but not happy at all with it. It uses a small metal ring or 'clamp' which actually doesn't stop the rack from moving around when its got a reasonable amount of weight on it.

Also, the rack goes into 2 (see below pic), to be screwed into the fork eyelets on both sides of the fork - I can only get one side in (the other wont go in without crossthreading!) so im not confident if the rack will hold up.

So knowing that my bike fits this front rack, and knowing nothing else about types of racks - can you suggest another one that is suitable for me to buy?

Would this (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/blackbur...ork-fitting-front-rack-black-alloy-prod15294/) fit? It looks like a standard size..?

Cheers

The link points toan MTB front rack. I've used one on my Thorn Sherpa touring bike with panniers and can recommend it. I don't find the higher centre of gravity to be a problem and the bike handles ok. However, I've never ridden a bike with lowrider panniers so can't compare. One advantage of the MTB type is that the top of the rack is available as extra luggage space.

Yeah, I must admit im tempted. I dont know alot about my bike, but I assume this would fit the bosses? Surely there made to some standard spec for all bikes?

Thanks for the reply

I've just fitted a Surly Nice front rack to mine. Very strong but a bit heavy and expensive. It has a rack on the top where you could put a roll mat or sleeping bag. Good bit of kit of you don't mind spending a bit more.
