Am I a hoarder?

A cup with the handle broken off has been on my kitchen windowsill for about three weeks.

My reason for not throwing it away is that I may one day need to use it as "crock" in a garden planter. Which would be reasonable, except that I don't garden, I hate gardening.

I also have a button box. I have never, in my adult life got a button from this box and sewn it to something. I can't however, bring myself to throw them away. I'm considering starting a rag bag.

My stepson commented recently, that its not usual to dedicate two kitchen cupboards to the storage of (mostly) lidless Tupperware.

This situation is repeated many times over with different items, notebooks - I have many but can never find one if I need one. Pens, scrap paper, cleaning products, dog bowls, dog blankets, screws, clocks, watches, odd earrings, toys, books. None of which can be got rid of - just in case.

Thing is - my storage is now full. If things don't stop I'll soon be calling in the help of The Hoarder Next Door team.

Any sage words of wisdom?

No - but then I only got around to moving the broken plate to the garden after it sat in the kitchen for 4 months (I really liked the plate). I also have a button box and a rag bag - that is overflowing. The problem is that eventually you keep so much stuff that might be useful, that you can't actually find it when you actually need it.

Good luck ... maybe we will meet in rehab:whistle:

Mrs Ianrauk is a hoarder.
Me - I always think I have too much stuff. I like the minimalist lifestyle.
Once, of my work colleagues said my house looked like one of those show homes. The lounge had a 3 piece suite, a couple of framed paintings, a TV and that was it.
Dining room had a table and chairs and a bookcase.
But since ianrauk jnr came on the scene near 3 years ago, he has taken over the house and it now looks like a branch of Toy'sR Us.
And it has been noticed that Mrs Ian has been sneaking in ornaments and knick knacks..:cursing:

I think it stems from being a child of the seventies and from wishing to re-use to protect the environment.

Eitherway, my house and garage are stuffed to the brim.

I'm also a child of the 70's. My mother was a hoarder so that's probably the reason why I am not.

My ex-husband was the same, he had OCD. Between us we kept the house somewhere in the middle. Since we separated house has been on a steady decline!
The current Mr_H is as bad as me, we have numerous broken laptops piled up. He's not bothered, but I am.

What also happens is that I am either hoovering or dusting and Mrs Ian would say that she had already done it

If you've not used it in the last 6 months, off to the charity shop with it. unless it is tat, then bin it. It's the only way to live. you know it make sense:thumbsup:
You're so right. I took two sacks to charity shop the other day, having started sorting sons wardrobe. There were shoes that were three sizes too small in there and clothes age 6 -7 (he's just turned 10!)
