I did that too - and put in shelves and cupboards to maximise the amout of clutter "important stuff that will come in handy one day" that I could keep! ^_^
Trouble is, we want to do a loft conversion in the next couple of years, so bst not to stuff it to rafters.

Don't worry - that all sounds pretty mainstream to me.

A while ago there was a competition on the Beeb about the strange things people's parents kept. It stuck in my mind, because the winner by a mile was someone whose mother had an Ovaltine jar labelled "Pieces of String Too Short to be Useful".

LOL.

I don't think I'm in the stages of extreme hoarding, but mine is the most cluttered and disorganised home out of all my friends. To the extent that I'm too embarrassed to have anyone round.

Put the cupboards in the eves! That's usually what ends up there anyway as it's not really "usable space". You can then fill them with whatever you want! and just paint them/decorate them when you do the full conversion. Plus the new room will have that instant "lived in" feel as the cupboards will be full of things that usually take months to accumulate!

Sarah.....just throw it all away. My MIL is a hoarder, when she moved to her new bungalow last year we found three broken TV sets amongst the stuff that the removal men had transported. In fact she had so much junk that she was unable to sleep in her bedroom as the bed was covered in old clothes and broken electrical gadgets. After we had done five trips to the local tip, and much protestation on her part, at least she could open the door of her sitting room.
Thats what I'm afraid of!

Do you keep old poo in sandwich bags? Because if you do then it's safe to take an inability to disregard ones fecal matter as nature's warning sign that you might be hoarding. Anything less than the poo bags and you're doing just fine.

I think keeping stuff is a bit like the saying that there's no such thing as bad cycling weather, just the wrong clothing. Hoarding is fine as long as you have enough storage.

But if you take just one thing from my post let it be this - poo goes down the toilet.

just yesterday I attempted to sort my screw/nuts/washers box - I had plans to be brutal but it never happened. Why do I keep all these rusty old screws as whenever I need one, if it's rusty I wont use it anyway?
I have my grandma's button box, safe and ready to pass on to my grandchildren - I doubt a button will ever actually be used from it!
My rag bag is great!

Noooo.... it's only things that I think may come in useful in the future. Try as I might, I can't think of a use for my poo. Though I am vegetarian, so I could rot it down and spread it on the garden. Hmmmmm!
