Quite right too. No point in giving the relatives and easy time of it after you go. I must start a collection of anvils.
When I moved to this flat, it was from a student house that I'd shared for three years. I'd accumulated a fair bit of stuff I didn't want anymore, and took several carrier bags into Oxfam. Behind the counter was a youngish chap, and an old lady. The chap said "Oh, that's a lot of stuff!" and I said "Well, that's what happens when you live somewhere for three years.".
The old lady said "That's nothing, I've been in my house for 28 years".
"Yeah", I said, "I guess you've got some stuff..."
"I have" she said, with a slightly malicious twinkle in her eye, "and it won't be me that has to clear it out!"
I imagined a slightly disliked son-in-law....
