I was quite pleased to see another MaxxD user here. I love that light, it's so bright and (usually) so effective at altering driver behaviour.
I've only ever done this once and its not big or clever.
In Winchester the Stockbridge Road passes under a narrow (two car widths + a foot) railway bridge. It's on a blind bend and there's a set of lights 100 yards down where, because of the sequencing, you'll usually have to wait. In short, not a good place to overtake anything.
Last winter, I'm about to pass through on the vanity bike when I hear the roar of the paddy hopkirk exhaust behind me. A quick look and I make the pragmatic decision to bail out to the gutter, as young Carlos Sainz seems determined to flow the prime directive. I pottle to the lights to meet Carlos, who is inevitably having to wait.
I figure he hadn't seen me, so I wait behind and turn my light to full. Its
quite a bright light. I don't think he was that happy and he made to get out, but realised that (a) I was bigger than him and (

his eyeballs had melted.
