The pinch points in the original post have caused me trouble in the past, in the dark, with various cateye configurations. I think the Maxx D comes accross as a motorbike, drivers can't see past it to see the pedals going up and down.

Yep, as this pics shows you can give the appearance of a motorbike/scooter.

I was quite pleased to see another MaxxD user here. I love that light, it's so bright and (usually) so effective at altering driver behaviour.

I've only ever done this once and its not big or clever.

In Winchester the Stockbridge Road passes under a narrow (two car widths + a foot) railway bridge. It's on a blind bend and there's a set of lights 100 yards down where, because of the sequencing, you'll usually have to wait. In short, not a good place to overtake anything.

Last winter, I'm about to pass through on the vanity bike when I hear the roar of the paddy hopkirk exhaust behind me. A quick look and I make the pragmatic decision to bail out to the gutter, as young Carlos Sainz seems determined to flow the prime directive. I pottle to the lights to meet Carlos, who is inevitably having to wait.

I figure he hadn't seen me, so I wait behind and turn my light to full. Its quite a bright light. I don't think he was that happy and he made to get out, but realised that (a) I was bigger than him and ( his eyeballs had melted.

well I'm certainly not in JJ's league for hot headedness, stopping on someones foot and then punching them for it, true class.

Have asked several motorists to step out of vehicles for a 'conversation', thankfully they've all refused so far. But have improved quite rapidly in that respect and am much more relaxed now than 6 months ago. Have only had one conversation recently with a WVM en route to Southend. Called me a pr*ck as he passed then stopped in queue for roundabout just ahead. So pulled up next to him and asked, across his wife, why he felt the need to speak to me like that? Pretty pointless, got some pathetic mumblings and little eye contact.

Though I reserve the right to regress to full youthful agression if I ever catch a car after the occupants have thrown stuff at me.

I know this is all in a day's riding for most of you but this is the first time I have ever been told to get off the road, I feel like I have just passed an exam.

Passed with honors... Welcome to the club, Wesa
