Cantilever front brake & hydraulic rear brake. Flat mount rear caliper on an IS mount frame. Hydraulic dual control lever on the left hand side, but front shifting is done by an additional barend shifter. 12 speed Ultegra cranks...paired with 11 speed chainrings and flat pedals. Oh it's an e-bike as well.

Couldn't decide on which reaction to use. It is clear that whoever fettled it knew what they were doing.

Weird! Wouldn't it be better with the disc on the front and the canti at the back?
I hope they aren't in the habit of leaving the bike for long periods with that spaghetti sized cable lock or they won't have it for long.

Now that you say this I noticed another thing. They're using the front disc brake mount as a mudguard mount! Incredible.

It's fascinating, the more you look the more you see, like at some point it looks like that rear wheel has been used with rim brakes. I suspect the forks are original to the bike, but I've never seen forks with both cantilever bosses and IS disk brake mounts before. The rear chain stays appear to be the same, canti bosses and IS disk mounts.

Have a look at Spa's website. Their Wayfarer comes as standard with a fork that is suited to disc or canti/V brake.

Thorn recommended v-brake front and disc at the back for several years.

The front v-brake reduces forces through the fork compared with disc, allowing a lighter and more flexible fork.
