One of the nice little features of the "metric" way of measuring fuel economy, which they do as litres per 100 km, ie the other way round from us; is that if you tidy up the units it comes out as an area. This is the cross section of the notional cylinder of fuel that you burn through as you travel. Thus we should really talk about fuel economy in square millimetres

Well actually... It doesn't have to be a cylinder. It could have any shape as long as the cross section is constant. Which I think means it's a prism.

Is this my most pointlessly pedantic post ever? :smile:
