Android phone.....finger print recognition question.

I’m not talking about a photo, I’m talking about my actual face! It’s right there for anyone to present my phone to.

It's why when I go travelling I always disable all biometric unlock from my devices.

Yes, just done that. It seems to have worked.

Also, go to settings > Display and Touch > Touch Sensitivity > Enable Touch Sensitivity.

This compensates for having a display protector on the screen.

Also as a note, if you have a smart watch or similar bluetooth device you carry with you all the time, you can enable smart lock, which means that when you are within a few metres of your phone it remains unlocked as long as you are wearing your watch. If you wander off and back you'll need to unlock your phone and at least once a day usually, but it works really well.

I set it up on my work phone but after a weekend of gardening it didn't recognise my fingerprint so gave up.

Haha, same here!
My fingerprints are always rugged due to various manual activities.
As an EU passport holder, we have had the biometric recognition for our passports for at least 10 years.
Last time I had to renew, they had to take my fingerprint umpteen times before it worked

There is likely a screen protector setting in the menus somewhere that will rectify this. Worked on my Pixel 9.
