Folowing this thread (Ordnance survey paid app for iPhone), I thought I'd mention the RMaps (free) app for Android which has various types of map including Ordnance Survey and something called "cycling map" which I have on the phone, but haven't investigated properly yet.

Thanks for this. Just trying it out now. It looks excellent at first glance.

OK, I've turned into an appaholic... in (apart from the first) alphabetical order, here's what I currently have, not including the obvious ones like email and browser  (May have to take some off, it's pretty full now, but working quickly enough thanks to one particular app, the first on the list:

Spare Parts: various tweaks for unrooted phones that seems to speed everything up: recommended!
App Manager: fairly useful
Apps organiser: you can group apps on your home page
beeb player: bbc iplayer (unofficial) works well over wifi
bloo: facebook thing: better than f'book's own app
bubble: spirit level
convertdroid: distance/weight (etc) converter
currency converter: good
daylight: sunrise/sunset etc times for anywhere
digital clock: digital clock widget
goggles: google visual search... excellent!
google sky map: impresive night sky info
google translate: good
labyrinth lite: game
lapiz: converts photos into pencil drawings... pointless, but kinda fun!
line of 4: basically a connect4 game
listables: lists your apps, and sends email (along with scannable barcode thing)
listen: useful for podcasts
magic marker: graphics... for the nippers
maps: phenomenal google map product
moon phase: widget for showing what phase the moon is in
movies: film info, localised, reviews, clips etc
musical lite: keyboard, metronome, tuner
my tracks: record walking, cycling, running routes and send to google maps
my settings: quick tweaks of your sound, screen, volume, wifi (etc) settings
note everything: text, drawing or voice notes. Can send them too
ocmec click widget: another clock widget, a good one
orienteer: nice compass, smallish app size
rac traffic: very good traffic info
retro clock/retro date: "flip" style clock widget
RMaps: regular map, cycling map, OS maps
ruler: a ruler
S2 calendar widget: a calendar widget
screebl lite: just put this on yesterday... screen timeout controller... possibly useful for saving battery life, still trying it out
screen crack: make it look like your screen has cracked, obviously!
shazam: play it a tune, and it'll tell you what it is. One day, I'll find a use for it!
shop savvy: barcode scanner. I've not 'really' used it, but it impresses people
slide puzzle: for the nippers
spark: lightning streaks on your screen... for the nippers
speaking pad: type in rude words and make your phone say them
steamy window: mists over your screen, as though there's condensation inside... totally pointless but kinda fun
stopwatch: a stopwatch
t-counter: to count things.. click...click...click...etc (perhaps if I was a shepherd or something, I might find a use for it)
taskiller: one of only 2 I've paid for full version... very useful
ticker: ticker tape display of what you type in (mostly rude words, or "coming for a pint?" to be used in meetings)
tts service: this is behind the voice-based apps, like google voice search
tube downloader: download vids from youtube to save to sd card and watch offline
tv guide: uk tv guide. Best one I've tried
weather forecast widget: good one (paid for full version)
world time: what time is it, anywhere (map based)

...I think that's it!
