Before anyone says it........I know I posted re' the Anglesey ride previously and got some good info'....many thanks to those that helped.

Is there any way of finding out the total ascent??
I am a bit concerned as..........
a) It will be my first ever 100 miler
b) I don't want the hills to prevent us making the target
I managed a 68 miler in September(ish) but that was on the flat.

Plot the ride on bikehike.co.uk

Don't know the ascent, but when I did a ride round the edge it was surprisingly lumpy. Nothing too large, but more undulating than expected.
Either good luck or the cheshire plains are relatively flat

I loaded the Tour de Mon Mawr into my Memory Map software and plotted a detailed profile for you. Memory Map says that there is over 6,000 ft of ascent but it counts every little lump in the road. I usually work on about 80% of what it says so more like 4,800 ft in total. There are no HUGE climbs but an awful lot of little ones! Here you go ...

That is really useful and encouraging................many thanks. TBH I expected it to be 'lumpier' than that as my 50 milers through Cheshire have nearly 3000ft of ascent.

Very interesting.........thanks.
Very selfish that none of the rides actually does the full circuit and gives ascent/ft
Go out, do a full test run, upload to the site then you'll know when you do it for real with your pal ;)

I would be interested in a gpx of the route, as I wouldn't mind trying it myself. On a slightly different tack: my daughter is doing Holyhead to Chester (about 103 miles) over three days in the summer with her school. My son and I are going to attempt to the the whole route in a day. If we aren't too knackered when we get to Chester, we might try and cycle the remaining 35 miles home.

Holyhead to Chester sound more "doable" as its mainly down hill and normally "with the wind".
What is a gpx ? (serious question).

GPX is a type of file used by many GPS devices, software writers, websites etc. It is a non-proprietary format which everybody in the industry agreed to use to avoid the otherwise inevitable situation where software written by company 'x' could not be used with hardware made by company 'y' or a website run by company 'z'.
