Mmmm, looking at the video the car seems to stop / look and then move off to have all four wheels over 'their' give way marks - just at the point you cross your give way marks to enter the mini roundabout. Maybe it's the camera, but you don't seem to slow down as you approach the give way - more like ride straight out. Bit 50/50 that one.

i think the award for irony goes to you for that post. especially reading your signature.

when i did my Cycling proficiency nearly 30 years ago we were taught to look out for hazards and avoid them before they became an issue. if i see a car approaching a RAB like that I slow down and assume they haven't seen me. has saved my skin a few times

You\we saw that one coming a mile off, but the car driver was either blind\asleep or assumed you were doing 2mph so pulled off despite your presence.
I always assume the latter, partly because it makes me believe that I am faster than I actually am

I don't get where people who say "You should have slowed down as they were on the roundabout before you" are coming from... yes, they were on the roundabout before you, but in doing so caused you to have to brake and/or take avoiding action... as you have priority here they should simply stop and wait. The acid test is whether they would have done the same if you had been in a car, my feeling is that they wouldn't.

As you say though, not a huge issue/danger, but annoying all the same.

PS - Very restrained!!

Well, I've been guilty of doing the same as Mr P, but still, there's no right to expect that you can steam across the roundabout. Someone else was there first, they get on the roundabout first, you have to give way to them. Simple. I accept there's a grey area, and this might be just inside that.

From that same rule:

"watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all"

She may have been pushy, or perhaps even wrong, but so were you.

Since you are just as much, if not more in the wrong, you have nothing to complain about. You could have slowed more, but didn't.

In case you think I'm getting at you, no, I have a vid that's similar, and I have the same conclusion about my own riding.

I feel like I could... TAKE ON THE WORLD!!
You are meant to give way to vehicles on your right, if its 50/50 you give way, thats how roundabouts work otherwise we would all be stopped at the roundabout wondering who should give way.

With regards to "watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signaling correctly or at all"

She was not on the roundabout, she was entering it, its her responsibility to ensure she enters it without obstructing traffic approaching on her right.

That line IMO is so you don't assume someone is coming off a roundabout unless they signal, and even then don't assume they are signaling correctly.

Have you slowed that video down Mr P?

Damn you were slow.

No wonder she thought "it's only a slow cyclist I'll chance it"

What's so hard to understand about giving way to traffic approaching from the right?

She didn't give way. It's as simple as that.

The rule is not "who can get their nose onto the roundabout first, then let's see about the consequences". With good reason.
