I also had the bike disappear from under me on an oil patch this winter. Got a colourful left arm and leg out of it and required new shorts and hi-viz top. Fortunately I was wearing my helmet......

I've slowed down on descents since my off the other week. You get complacent thinking it wont happen to you so a little crash every other year keeps you on your toes. Sod it if someone scalps me on a 3 grand carbon bike wanting a reply! I'll let them go and think of my flesh and bones rather than my dented pride!

Thanks all. Little stiff and sore today particularly shoulder but can get it comfortable. Managed 2 hr turbo session so that's a result.

Ouch! Good job it wasn't worse - at those sort of speeds it's all too easy to end getting plastered... in A&E! Heal quickly, and don't forget to take your medicinal whisky!
