Always looking for the perfect saddle, have bought dozens of saddles over the years and watched lots of saddle fit videos, even a few times have thought i have the perfect saddle for me but never seem to find the holy grail am i the only one?

A few years ago i tried a Chromag saddle not the lightest on the market and thought i had the perfect saddle bought a few then on a long 150 mile club ramble was standing up most of the last few hours.

Then took a liking for vnt saddles just that bit better and much less expensive than chromag and almost perfect for me again bought a few until i tryied out an old specialised 2272 saddle that seems to be perfect and is even lighter than the vnts or chromages my only problem now is where to sorce this holy grail for my bikes?

Any one else spending lots of money on there search for saddle comfort and yes have had brooks saddles?

PS any one know if this specialised 2272 saddle is sold under another name or where they could be bought?

I spent a fair bit of time and money before settling on Selle SMP Trk. Suits me, but won't suit others.

I've stopped searching.
My early bikes were all second hand and came with a variety of used leather saddles. Some comfortable, some not. Then when the Unicanitor plastic saddle came out, I rode on one of those for a few seasons and found them quite comfortable. Interesting though, I brought this saddle out of hibernation for a rebuild bike and it was the most painful experience. It went back into hiberntion until a fellow CC'er was asking for one and I donated it to him.
Then I tried a few saddles from Halfords and LBS's. In those days, there was no internet, so limited places to see them.

Then in 1994, I bought a bike from Ribble and it came with a San Marco Regal and I've never looked back. Have the same on all four of my bikes. Not a huge mile eater, but have ridden a few all day rides (100+) without too much discomfort. Up to 3 hours, hardly notice any discomfort, but more than that my legs start getting tired and more weight lands on the seat.

Am tempted to try one of the newer designs, which have holes in them or split down the middle, particulaly for time trials. I get more discomfort on a 10 mile time trial, than I do on a 3hr training/leisure ride.

Good luck searching.

This is why it's a bit of a lost cause asking for recommendations. It's so individual. I tried these and found them instruments of torture!
So true, I have a Brooks B17 that I’m breaking in on the turbo trainer but it’s not as comfortable as the C17 that I have on one of my Brommies.

Its massively personal. I messed about with a few, some quite expensive until I found the charge spoon suited my bum, so bought a couple of those for the fleet. By chance a vintage bike I bought came with a San Marco Rolls, which I find even better than the Charge, so have replaced another Charge with one of them.
My OH tried loads before finding success.
Getting the right saddle width for your sit bones is key, once you understand that, then its a case of then find than in conjunction with the right shape to suit your position and riding style

Just had a warning of “ disruption due to wind “ pop up on my phone. From midnight to nine am, 70mph gusts in coastal areas. I’ll be giving the local parkrun a miss in the morning, it’s right on the coast and part of the route is along a wooded avenue.

And, presumably, your saddle will be getting a rest too?
