Seems as right a place to say as anywhere but I hope people noticed the bouquet of BBC HD channels that officially launched yesterday.

Oooh I was wondering when they were going live...CBeebies HD is the highlight lol

Really? I just go wherever the best deal is...at the moment that happens to be Virgin Media. I would imagine I'll go back to Sky again in 18 months time on another Friends and Family half price deal.
No one can beat virgin when it comes to me. I negotiated or my dad more correctly to remove the FUP and so unlimited means unlimited. I download on avg 60-100gb a month. So a better deal is impossible

hate to tell you that we all have unlimited, all that happens is that you get throttled on the bandwidth and download speed. its all in the T&Cs ;)

I guess if bandwidth / data usage is that important to you then it will be hard to beat VM's high end broadband packages. 60Mb on the standard usage terms is more than enough for my requirements...as was Sky's 12Mb ADSL connection previously.
How do you export recordings?
Anything recorded on a Sky box that is premium or paid for content and not free to view is encrypted using your card, and to date not been hacked so even if you got it off without a live card it won't play, this even goes for downgrading if you remove Movies any recorded ones are unusable. Never tried to get the free to view stuff off a box before, this info is about a year ago when I left so someone might have managed it since.

Whenever these conversations pop up I am always the odd man out, I really dislike the Tivo box and not all that with Virgin either tbh. Stuck with them as I am getting BTSport free at the moment.

You're not the odd one out.... I hate TiVo too! But I'll deal with it for the price we pay.

My point is I'm not affected by fair use policy as it's not in the contract. I don't get affected by speed throttling. I can have as much as I want at 20mbps

Ive just got a letter from VM saying the bill is going up by @£4.50 per month . So my bill for phone , tv and internet will now be @ £50 per month . They tell me there isn't a cheaper package for me to go down too

If you can live without VM for a month I'm pretty sure you can sign back up as a new customer and take advantage of their current 'New Customer Only' deals. Or, if you have someone else in your household that could sign up for a new package...that seems to work also as my mate found out last month lol

I think a lot more people are doing that now that fibre has become more widespread; subscription / streaming services like Netflix are cheaper and you can watch what you want when you want to.

As the main entertainment spend in our house, the Sky subscription (no sports) is considered reasonable, but if we were able to get other packages, like VM, we'd probably shop around and tailor the package to suit our viewing preferences a bit more.
