One of the problems with garages (apart from them being full of bikes) is that they are too small. Cars keep getting bigger but garages are the same size they were in the 1960's.

Yep but there's still a drive to park on leading up to the garage.

I wouldn't dream of leaving my car on the road on a busy main street if I had drive to park on. Even though our road is quiet traffic wise the car always goes on the drive.

What!!!!!
Coastal towns are usually the worst for antisocial behaviour as well. And not from just the local neds either.
And don't get me started on the local lunatic cyclists
Seriously though,it needs to be dealt with and as others have said reporting it as a group will eventually sink in.Its happened to my partners car twice. The first time the car was less than 24 hours old,and she along with others reported it.They caught them in the act in the early hours of the morning a few weeks later.

A local police sergeant said to me that you should report as many crimes as possible, even if we have no chance of solving them it gives us the opportunity to argue for more officers for our area. So may be it is never a waste of time in reporting an incident.[/QUOTE]

Yep, all reported crimes/offences/detections are analysed - makes for some interesting reading at times

Tony B.Liars government introduced planning guidelines which deliberately restricts the number of cars a new property can accommodate on site, supposedly as a means to discourage car ownership.

Of course, it does nothing of the sort and serves only to leave new builds crammed in tightly with unsightly lines of cars parking half up on the footpath.
[Braces herself for an uncharacteristic defence of Blair]
Combined with proper enforcement of parking regulations, of course it would discourage car ownership. You can't own a car if there's nowhere to keep it. The problem is tolerance of antisocial parking. Tow 'em away and crush 'em. Leave the wing mirrors behind as a souvenir.

I fully agree with that.
When we had our extension built I made sure the garage was bigger than standard..........think its 22' x 10'.
Next door they don't have a garage..........but they have 4 cars, 3 of which they park on the road. We live in a 'Close' with only one pavement so when the neighbour facing them parks on the road (which they are entitled to) I can just get through with care. A fire engine would have no chance.

And in Scotland, where Brandane lives, according to the official figures:
  • There were 17,245 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland on 30 September 2016.

  • This is an increase of 1,011 FTE police officers (+6.2%) from the 16,234 FTE police officers recorded at 31 March 2007.
According to Police Scotland webpage:
Under a single policing service we now allocate and operate our police officer posts over three tiers – local, regional and national. This ensures we have a core complement of officers who are always dedicated locally to community and response policing, and can then additionally draw on specialist expertise and resources to support local policing wherever and whenever they are needed. It means we have the right people in the right place at the right time to keep people safe and meet the needs of our communities.

I suppose if kicked wing mirrors were reported it would at least test whether there is local responsive Policing...
I suppose you can put a positive spin on anything, but when the same force fails to act on reports of a car sliding off a major road and the occupants effectively freeze to death, you start to realise why people don't report the so called low level stuff. Nobody would know this better than an ex officer.

I wouldn't link them at all.

Some of the houses round here have pairs of garages accessed by passages between pairs of semis, so narrow that anything above a supermini will not fit.
